Advances in engineering and manufacturing have given us some really interesting materials to work with. One that has rapidly gained popularity with architects, designers and homeowners is faux wood porcelain tile. Scanner technology that can image the intricate grain and color of natural wood, coupled with the latest techniques for making porcelain tile, have led to a true alternative to wood.

Tile has traditionally been the favored choice over wood for high-moisture or heavy traffic areas. It cleans easily, is durable and long lasting. It’s also excellent for outdoor to indoor use, where you come out of an entryway onto an outside patio area. Now you have an alternative for the wood look, with the durability of tile. It’s not always the right fit and doesn’t solve every flooring need. But it definitely deserves a closer look when you’re considering your next remodel.
