For this Home Office remodel, Patsy, one of my favorite interior design colleagues, also focused on the cabinetry, design and layout.  She knew these clients from other projects she had completed, and they were aware of her expertise in dealing with storage space planning.
One of Patsy’s challenges was to deal with the owners’ computer and paraphernalia wire management problems – the husband’s work would not allow for a wireless office. Another challenge was to make their home office a workable space for both people – husband and wife.
To solve the wiring dilemma for the Home Office remodel, she and the cabinet maker created a channel between the wall and the counter surface to keep wiring out of the way.  This channel also allowed the wiring to come up at each computer terminal, unseen.  One of the corner cabinets was designed with a rolling cart that held computer equipment and could be easily accessed without getting down on hands and knees (see previous week’s blog for full view of room).
And the final touch was the new insulation in the floor, walls and ceiling!

Before: Wire Mess
