Our clients wanted a dining area to be part of their remodeled kitchen. They travel a lot and like to eat in restaurants that have booths, so we put seating areas around the table to reflect this. The table is also movable, so the space can be changed depending on the type of gathering, or the number of people.
We installed double hung windows in this new space.  This type of window has two operating sashes that move up and down allowing for ventilation on the top, bottom or both.  Kind of nifty!
The windows in this room are higher than the norm, because the client wanted a higher backsplash, and the windows to be tall for better ventilation, light and view. The backsplash was extended along the entire room, from sink to dining area, to maintain the continuity throughout the space. You can see this in the reflection from the mirror in the photo.
