I’ve spoken before about the myriad of new materials and surfaces making their way into our homes. But that doesn’t mean that old-school materials are out. In fact good old low-tech concrete is making a comeback.

I’ve read that 10% or more of new homes incorporate concrete into the structure. And with a few tech improvements the new concrete can be everything but dull gray. I even like some of the concrete furniture that’s been popping up.

Don’t forget concrete flooring. Terrazzo, very popular mid-last century is getting popular again. Terrazzo is made by mixing bits of quartz, granite and glass and casting it in concrete. It’s a very nice look.
