As of January 1, 2017, all non-compliant residential properties will require the installation of water-conserving plumbing fixtures. The legislation that passed in 2014, as Civil Code §1101.5, set January 1, 2017 as the deadline for single-family homeowners to be in compliance.

The good news is – if you’ve done any remodeling in the past 10 years or so your fixtures should already be compliant.

Some basic standards are:

Showers Fixtures – no more than 2.5 gallons per minute

Faucets – no more than 2.2 gallons per minute

Toilets – no more than 1.6 gallons per flush

Fixtures and low-flow toilets have come a long way both in functionality and design.  And price-wise, not any difference. So, keep it mind if I do your bathroom remodel.
