Being an architect, who designs livable spaces for Silicon Valley property owners, although I’m a licensed architect I’m also a designer. So what’s the difference?
According to Wikipedia’s definition an architect is “a person who plans, designs, and reviews the construction of buildings” Right there in the definition it say designs.
But I think there is a distinction. Architecture is the part of design that deals with creating a structure or backbone of a building. Design encompasses architecture but also defines a plan to build out the entire structure.
So architects are designers, but not all designers are architects. So in a way I’m both.
