“Every great architect is – necessarily – a great poet. He must be a great original interpreter of his time, his day, his age.”

Frank Lloyd Wright

A poet? Well yes, I understand. The design of building and structures at best do reflect our time, day and age.

Trends of our time, such as green homes are finding their way into architectural designs. And something as simple as designing for smaller families reflects the reality of our declining birthrates. Gone are the days of homes with multiple small bedrooms.

And it’s also true as to materials. Lumber from old growth forests have made way to wood composites.

I’ll stick with the job description as architect though. I’m not sure my iambic pentameter is up to par.
